The Challenge

Hundreds of millions of people living in rural communities in India and other developing countries depend on farming for their livelihoods. Due to lack of access to innovative tools, technology and capital these farmers are not able to utilize their natural resources effectively. Since many farmers get their daily income from farming small plots of land, lower agricultural productivity has a direct impact on basic necessities such as food, healthcare and school fees.

The Challenge: Socio-Economic Aspect

Many small farmers are unable to make the most of their land and other scarce natural resources due to lack of awareness about innovative farming techniques. Even after working hard under difficult conditions, they struggle to provide basic necessities such as food and healthcare to their families. Majority of rural farmers own small plots of land. They are not able to get good returns on their crops due to low agricultural productivity and lack of access to reliable markets. Due to low overall income most of the family members, including children, are forced to work at a farm to take care of daily food or unexpected medical expenses. With limited income, farmers are not able to send their kids to school and give them an opportunity to reach their full potential.

The Challenge: Healthcare Aspect

Due to lake of awareness about sustainable and safe agricultural practices, many conventional farmers use harmful chemicals and synthetic fertilizers to get quick results in a short duration of time. With limited income, many farmers use low-cost and low-quality agriculture inputs. As a result, toxic chemicals that quickly kill pests and destroy weed end up in the food that we eat, the water that we drink and the air that we breathe. Many genetically modified organisms (GMOs), pesticides, herbicides and synthetic chemicals used in conventional farming can be harmful for humans and the entire ecosystem in the long run. A number of studies have linked the toxic chemicals used in agriculture to cancer, autism, attention deficit disorders, and many other chronic diseases.

The Challenge: Environmental Aspect

Toxic pesticides, fungicides and herbicides interfere with the natural flow of wildlife, insects, birds, frogs and many other micro-organisms. Furthermore, these toxic substances not only contaminate the soil, water and air, but also harm the health of those who consume the food containing chemical residue. Synthetic chemicals present in conventional fertilizers also harm millions of micro-organisms and other organic matter that help plants grow naturally. With limited tools, technology and knowledge, small farmers unintentionally damage the soil in the long run.

Our Strategy

We have developed Sustainable Agriculture Program to bring economic empowerment to farmers in rural communities. We utilize innovative tools, modern farming methods and shared knowledge to help farmers with increasing agricultural productivity. With increased income farmers can afford to send their kids to school and provide better food and healthcare to their families.

Strategic Solution: Economic Aspect

Strategic Solution: Socio-economic Aspect

Through our Sustainable Agriculture Program, we distribute eco-friendly agriculture inputs to small farmers in rural areas. These organic agriculture inputs help farmers with increasing crop yield, improving soil fertility and initiating early harvesting in a completely natural way. We also conduct informative seminaries to spread awareness about latest and best farming practices that can lead to higher agricultural productivity. With increased income, farmers can invest in modern farming equipment, better seeds and proper nutrition management for their crops. These investments can have a direct socio-economic impact on their families as they can afford to provide better healthcare for their families and education for their children.

Strategic Solution: Healthcare Aspect

Due to low income, many small farmers use low-cost chemicals and low-quality synthetic fertilizers to get quick results in a short duration of time. Toxic chemicals that quickly and easily kill pests end up in the food that we eat, the water that we drink and the air that we breathe. Through our Sustainable Agriculture Program, we educate farmers about using natural and organic alternatives to manage pests and increase cop yield. We also distribute eco-friendly agriculture inputs so that farmers can practically see the benefits of organic inputs and reduce the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides. As more farmers use environmentally friendly agriculture inputs more people can have access to chemical free and healthy food.

Strategic Solution: Environmental Challenge

Through our Sustainable Agriculture Program, we encourage conventional farmers to transition towards a more responsible and sustainable way of farming. When farmers use innovative methods to effectively utilize their natural resources, they can maintain the quality and integrity of the soil for years to come. Healthy soil, thriving with rich organic matter acts as a natural storage sinks for atmospheric carbon. By helping small farmers identify and utilize sustainable agriculture practices, we focus on reducing the use of toxic pesticides, fungicides and herbicides. Eco friendly and natural organic inputs are beneficial not only for the soil, water and air, but also for the entire eco system as they do not interfere with the natural flow of wildlife, insects, birds, frogs and many other micro-organisms.

Organic Farming Seminars

Strategic Solution: Economic Aspect

For many small farmers, the most common reason for not achieving expected yield is improper management of plant's nutritional requirements at critical growth stages. Due to lake of awareness, rural farmers fail to provide important nutrients such as Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potassium, Calcium, Magnesium, Sulphur as well as many other mix micro-nutrients to their crops at different stages starting from seed preparation till harvest. Through our Sustainable Agriculture Program, we organize informative seminars to educate farmers about using organic alternatives to manage pests and increase cop yield.

By equipping farmers with environmentally safe, cost effective and sustainable farming techniques, we focus on helping them with getting better returns on crops and successfully engage in competitive markets. With increased income, they can invest in modern farming equipment, better seeds and proper nutrition management for their crops. These investments can have a direct socio-economic impact on their families as they can afford to provide better healthcare for their families and education for their children.
