Nutrition Enhancement Program

Nutrition Enhancement Program

Our Goal

To prevent malnutrition by ensuring that underprivileged individuals have access to healthy food they need to live productive lives.

"If you can't feed a hundred people, then feed just one."

- Mother Teresa

The Challenge

195

million people in India are undernourished

25

million children are at risk of acute hunger which prevents them from going to school

61

million children in India grow inadequately due to chronic under nutrition

42%

of all Indian children are undernourished

68%

of all undernourished children in India are girls

Millions of children who live in poverty do not get healthy food to support normal growth and development. They suffer from physical and mental impairments due to poor nutrition. Children can have harmful and irreversible effects in the long run if they are undernourished at a young age.

Malnutrition also compromises the immune system of young children. As a result, they become more vulnerable to life-threatening infectious diseases. Undernourished and hungry children are unable to focus at school and learn the necessary skills they need to become productive adults. This creates a vicious cycle of illiteracy, unemployment and poverty.

Malnutrition is a global problem

Hunger kills more people each year than AIDS, malaria and terrorism combined

Every 10 seconds a child dies from hunger

One out of eight people sleeps hungry each night

Around 800 million undernourished people in the world today

66 million primary school-age children attend classes hungry across the developing world

Our Strategy

Nutrition-Enhancement-Program

With access to nutritious food, young children can become healthier, students can perform better in school and adults can take advantage of available opportunities to reach their full potential. In order to achieve long term sustainable development goals such as education, equality, good health and well-being for all, we must first address the issue of hunger and malnutrition.

We collaborate with community members, schools, colleges and NGOs to provide healthy food to people living in underprivileged communities. The world has more than enough food to make sure no individual suffers from malnutrition. With our Nutrition Enhancement Program, we prepare healthy meals and deliver them directly to orphanages, NGOs and schools in rural communities.

Initiatives

Food Outreach Program

Nutrition-Enhancement-Program

We believe that healthy meals ensure continued education. Due to malnutrition, many children in rural areas suffer from anemia or other forms of physical and mental impairments. To have a direct impact at the grassroots level, we organize food outreach programs to provide nutritious meals to underprivileged children in rural communities. Wherever possible, we prepare healthy meals using local ingredients at schools or orphanages and serve hot meals directly to the children. With the help of community members and volunteers, we also prepare food packets and distribute them to children in need.
